Adrian Newey with a new role!

Aston Martin F1 Team announced that design legend Adrian Newey will expand his role as Managing Technical Partner to include Team Principal from 2026.
Newey joined Aston Martin on March 1 of this year, having previously spent nearly 20 years at Red Bull. In his new role, Newey will lead the technical team and oversee on-site activities, including trackside operation of the car.

Andy Cowell will become Chief Strategy Officer . Having served as Team Principal and CEO for the past year, Cowell has led organizational reforms in preparation for the team's transition to a works team next season. Cowell 's new role will focus on optimizing the team's technical partnerships with Honda (works powertrain supplier), Aramco (fuel), and Valvoline (lubricants) and strengthening technical integration between the team and each partner.
Aston Martin explained the changes to its leadership structure are being made to "ensure organizational efficiency, focusing on Newey and Cowell's respective strengths and expertise." Cowell will now report to Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll, who will continue to oversee the team's business operations.

Andy's new role will be focused on integrating the new power unit with our three key partners, including Honda, and will be crucial in this journey." Lawrence Stroll commented: "Andy Cowell has been a tremendous leader this year, dedicated to building a world-class team, successfully running the organization, and fostering a culture that places the race car at the heart of everything we do.
This leadership change is a mutual decision made in the best interests of the team, and I look forward to his continued contribution in his new role." Cowell: "The foundations are in place for the works transition." Andy Cowell said: "Having made the necessary organizational changes and laid the foundation for Adrian and the entire organization to transition to a works team, I believe the timing is right for me to take on my new role as Chief Strategy Officer.
In this role, I will optimize the technical partnership between the team, Honda, Aramco, and Valvoline, and ensure seamless integration of the new power unit, fuel, and chassis." Aston Martin Struggles This Season; Newey to Responsible for Next Year's Car Development Aston Martin has struggled this season, currently sitting eighth in the Constructors' Championship.
They're three places down from last year, putting them in a difficult position with two races remaining. Meanwhile, since joining the team in March, Newey has been working on the design of next season's new car, with development progressing to accommodate the significant changes to the chassis and power unit regulations that will come into effect from 2026. The team sees this as the start of a new era and aims to improve its standings.
