Who is the Formula 1 GOAT? The question about the F1 Goat may have been asked and answered many times but rarely who has the data to back up their claim. Well we will try to give you some ammunition in the discussions with your friends.

We recalculated every F1 race since 1950 with the modern F1 points system to even the field a little bit. Of course there are many other factors that are different and changing from 1950s until today like number of races per season (read until the end for that adjustment), f1 cars reliability, number of teams etc. Still applying the same points system gives us some interesting insights to play with.
Below you will find the interactive graph of Top 40 F1 Drivers and you can play with the data to include or exclude certain nationalities or move the bar to a specific decade or race to see how it changed.
Now lets go a bit deeper and divide these points by number of races each driver had because there is huge discrepancy with early years when there were 7 races per season and now with. 24 races in 2025.

In another analysis we use different approach where after using one F1 point system we even the field by factoring the number of races in season. For example if base races in season is 24, then in a season with 8 races we multiply the points by 3 to account for length.

I did this manually on the top 20-30 from the precious post and Wikipedia. The biggest standout was the Charles Leclerc was right there in the mix with multiple world champions.
